Life In America
Florence Ann Canty, my maternal grandmother, was born in Lawler, Iowa on April 6, 1894 to parents Eugene Francis Canty and Rose Ann O'Byrne. Here she met and married a man named Ambrose Michael Goss and started the Goss bloodline on my side of the family. Ambrose was born in Lawler, Iowa on April 5 1889 and spent most of his life as a farmer. Florence was both a teacher and a postmistress and together, with Ambrose, had four children: two boys named Eugene Ambrose and Joseph John, and two girls named Madonna Rose and Margaret Mary.
