Their Journey To America
The Mullen family originated in Ireland, exact whereabouts are believed to be in County Monaghan. There were three Mullen boys, Hugh, Michael, and John, who are believed to be brothers. (The names of their parents are unknown.) Hugh Mullen was born in Ireland on April 15th 1801 and it is assumed that John Mullen and Michael Mullen were born there as well, eventhough their actual birthdate is not known. It is believed that Hugh and Michael came to America and lived in New York around 1849. Later Hugh's and Michael's families moved to Racine County, Wisconsin. Hugh and his family finally settled in Chickasaw County, Iowa.
