Life In America
Eleanor Canty was born in Lodi, Wisconsin in 1860 to parents Jeremiah Canty and Hannah Stanton. Jeremiah originally immigrated to England from Ireland where he met and married Hannah. Sometime between June 1857 and February 1858 Jeremiah and Hannah moved to America where they settled in Detroit, Michigan. In 1860 Eleanor moved to Lodi, Wisconsin with her family and then settled in Lawler, Iowa. In her travels she met and married a man named Edward Jeffonds. The exact date and place of their marriage is unknown. Together, Eleanor and John had four children, three boys named Edward, Roy, and Emett and one girl named Regina.
